Introducing Cullen Vane

Background

Cullen Vane was born in a small settlement on the edge of southern Fangwood. Tough men and women, these hardy settlers eked out a living through small-hold farming and hunting. In recent years, many of them have left the settlement to join the militias down south fighting against Molthune.

Cullen, always big for his age and liking nothing better than a scrap, joined the militia as soon as he came of age. He proved a quick learner and was soon sent to join the regulars on the border with Molthune, where he learnt the art of soldiering with sword and shield. Now a veteran soldier of several years experience, Cullen fights tirelessly for the freedom of Nirmath.

Ashrem Rel-Astra, a warrior from Phaendar, drops by to pay his old friend, Cullen, a visit and bring him news of his brother's recovery. His brother, Mallius...an archer with the militia...is convalescing in Phaendar after sustaining an injury in a recent skirmish. Cullen, however, has just heard a rumour of an attack on Phaendar. So, taking some much overdue leave, Cullen and his old friend, Ashrem, quickly head north.

As the two of them get closer to Phaendar, the rumours of attacks become more numerous...tales of burnt-out villages and settlements, roving bands of hobgoblins...and the Ironfang Legion, a savage band of mercenaries whom Cullen has encountered once before.
